A Tribe Called Quench: Heather Turner

Meet Heather Turner - "Director of Shoperations | Wonder Woman" - JuiceLander for 7.5 years

"I moved to Austin from Upstate New York at the end of August in 2009, on a whim with my boyfriend (now husband) and we only knew one other person. I was feeling super run down from traveling, and she suggested I go to the little juice bar on Barton Springs road. I went right away and got a delicious vegetable smoothie, and immunity shot (currently known as the Vegetable Kingdom & Noni to Fear!). I felt better right away and was immediately hooked. I dropped off my resume the next day and dreamed about how cool it must be to work there.

A couple weeks later I got a call from Matt Shook, who interviewed me in the lobby of the Barton Springs location and was hired on the spot. I was just thrilled to work with such awesome people, while serving nutritious drinks in a new city, and had no idea the opportunity it would bring. Two years later I was promoted to GM of the two locations.

Raising a family & helping run a company is no easy task! Being a mother of two has led me to be more patient with myself and others. As my role at JuiceLand has evolved, I have found that the more real and open I can be, the more people respect and understand the decisions that are being made. It's important to remain humble, and see that there is always something to learn from every situation. When I am feeling overwhelmed, I just remember that I am surrounded by a mindful, fun, exceptional group of people and that everything is always okay! And then I go jump in Barton Springs :)"
